Government Shutdown: Week 2 | Protect My Iron Helps Your Dealership

tea_party_adiblog1092013On October 1st, the U.S. government closed its doors after our lawmakers were unable to reach an agreement on the Continuing Resolution for appropriation for the fiscal year of 2014. With neither republicans nor democrats compromising, this government shutdown could lead to the first default in U.S. history. Many people in this nation blame the Tea Party Republicans while many believe that President Obama and the Senate Democrats are at fault here.

obama_adiblog1092013No matter which side you are on, a government default could spell economic disaster around the world in most every industry. Economists are warning that if the president does not start to negotiate, our country could be hit with the biggest economic disaster since the Great Depression and far outweighing the effects of the 2008 financial crisis. The U.S. Treasury Department warns “that failure to raise the debt ceiling by October 17th would be unprecedented and has the potential to be catastrophic.”

Senate Environment and Public Works chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has been scheduled to hold a press conference on Oct. 8th to discuss how the congressional stalemate is negatively affecting businesses across the country. Many government workers have been furloughed causing parks to be shut down, and forcing the Environmental Protection Agency to send home 96% of its workforce. Though the Federal Highway Administration is protected by funding through the Highway Trust Fund, the rest of the government furloughs will significantly impact the construction industry as the industry has always been heavily tied to government programs.

National_Parks_GovtShutdown_ADIBlog1092013Finding a way to maximize the life of construction equipment fleets will prove to be extremely beneficial for every single dealership in the United States and around the By offering extended warranty contracts at your dealership, you’ll be able to improve your bottom line by growing your revenue stream as the functionality of your construction equipment will be covered longer.

Extended warranties are designed with the dealers in mind. Equipment shouldn’t always break down, but we know over time that it is sometimes inevitable. This is the reason why many dealerships are taking on extended warranties for their construction fleets. Not only does an extended warranty “extend” the lives of your equipment, it can also help improve your bottom line in the long run.

It’s one thing to be stuck with timely repairs from equipment breakdowns, but it’s another to be stuck with timely AND costly repairs when you don’t have the safety net of an extended warranty contract on your construction equipment.
