Top 3 Reasons You HAVEN’T Purchased an Extended Warranty | Part 2

Earlier this week we posted Part 1 of the Top 3 Reasons You Haven’t Purchased an Extended Warranty. We know you love fighting with your OEM’s and all, but having your own Extended Warranty Program can help your dealership avoid that. Some of the other reasons you haven’t purchased an extended warranty?

BrokenMachine_ADIBlog09122013Reason #2: The equipment you sell is never going to break! Why would you invest in an extended warranty program for any of your machines when you know, deep down, that they’re error-proof and cannot, will not break! And it’s not like any problems a piece of equipment is going to have is going to pop up after the OEM’s warranty runs up. Who are we kidding? Of course time, wear & tear, increased hours, operator error and neglected maintenance won’t lead to machine damage or malfunction, especially not after the chintzy, limited, one-year OEM warranty is up. So why bother purchasing an extended warranty? Because you know these kinds of scenarios never happen.

burningmoney_adiblog09122013Reason #3: Plain and simple – you have way too much money! You wouldn’t waste the money on an extended warranty for your machines in an effort to prepare and protect yourself in the future and likely save a ton of money. Because if something ever did come up, you have more than enough money to cover it!

But the truth is…

Well, the truth is, we really do know you and your company, alike. We see your goal, we understand your business, we’ve been involved in the industry, and we see where you fall short. You’re taking a humongous risk, financially and by placing yourself at the front line of customer & OEM battle, by letting an extended warranty program fall through the cracks. Your dealership will regain control and responsibility, not to mention save money, by investing in a protective warranty contract for its equipment.

The Real Reason Why You NEED an Extended Warranty

Both manufacturer and dealer take a huge risk every time they sell a product. From reliability and dependability to product liability and potential harm to its operator, both parties involved in the transaction are subject to possible liability. And with warranty parts, design and assembly can fail, ultimately causing collateral damage to parts near the original failure site. Many manufacturers realize the inherent risk in selling their product. But what they don’t realize is the ample opportunity in utilizing the occasional defect, which results from manufacturing errors, as touch points for customer contact to achieve real customer satisfaction and form a strong, ongoing relationship with the customer.

ADI views extended warranty as a metric that identifies the shortfall between customer expectation of a machine’s reliability and dependability and the machine’s actual design, content and assembly performance. To put it simply, Extended Warranty is a management tool that drives customer satisfaction for the entirety of their ownership experience.
